What does Fabric mean?

A type of material created through the combination of natural and artificial fibres known as thread or yarn formed through the process of either weaving or knitting the fibers together or pressing them into felt.

Fabric, defined as cloth made by weaving, knitting, or felting fibers (Dictionary.com), comes in a wide variety of forms such as smooth, textured, fine, coarse, thick, and thin. Dating back as far as 5000 BC, flax is considered to be the oldest natural textile, followed by cotton. Fabric is most often used for clothing, with historians estimating that humans have been wearing some form of clothing for 190,000 years.
