Enzymes

What does Enzymes mean?

Enzymes by nature speed up chemical processes, are non-toxic, and are readily broken down. Used in textile processing, enzymes are primarily applied in the finishing of fabrics and garments.

Heddels explains Enzymes

Enzymes are complex proteins that catalyze chemical reactions. They play a vital role in a wide variety of biological and industrial procedures; however, in the textile industry they are used primarily for processes such as desizing, bio-polishing and enzyme washing.

They are recyclable and are thus a great environmentally-friendly option for finishing denim. Some of the enzymes used in the textile industry include amylases, cellulases, and lipases.
