Viberg Goodyear Welt Dust Black Calf Service Boot

Double stitchdown construction has been the backbone of Viberg footwear for three generations. Now, eighty-four years after their inauguration, the Canadian shoemaker has finally begun to make shoes with a goodyear welt.

The first to get the goodyear treatment is their service boot, an updated version of the company’s original 1931 work boot. This version is built on their 2030 last with a 270 degree split welt and a black Italian calfskin upper. It’s a bit more sleek as well with blind eyelets and round laces. And, should you get caught in a spring shower, the Dainite sole will keep you from slipping. They’re no good, though, should a puddle get between you and a passing car.

The result is a somewhat dressier introduction into their goodyear welt program. These retail for $730 and you can find them on the Viberg website.
