Known as the exclusive photographer for Kapital‘s many lookbooks, Eric Kvatek has recently taken on a campaign for Calik Denim. With the help of editing by Hsiang Chin Moe who produced the KAPITAL WORLD Movie, (as well as denim design by Teo Griscom, makeup and hair by Nicola Corl, and music by Ko DaBow) the team put together an interesting video which artfully showcases the Turkish mill’s denim.
There aren’t any specific garments in the video. Rather, the models wear rolls of fabric wrapped, tied, and draped in a variety of ways as they traverse through tropical landscapes.
The video doesn’t say much at all about the mill, nor the denim itself, though it looks like there were some selvedge fabrics in the mix. The campaign could lead to notable brands adding Calik to their repertoire of fabrics along with the many mills to which we are already accustomed. Or perhaps smaller brands will experiment with their denim in attempt to break out from Cone or whatever they can find from a jobber. Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see the potential of Calik.
