Fade Friday – 3sixteen ST-100x (5 years, 6 washes, 1 soak)

After

Most of the denim we see float through Fade Friday hardly makes it beyond two years. They get beaten up, blown out, and retired at the expense of fast fades. But every once and while though we get a blast from the past, like these 3sixteen jeans from 2009. Even though these jeans are called “100x”, they actually predate the company’s proprietary 100x fabric from Kuroki Mills by nearly two years.

This pair really goes to show how the 3sixteen design has remained consistent over the last five years. Besides the fabric, hardware, and the print on the pocket bag, it’s pretty much the same jean. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

They’ve been tended to like a fine Zen garden by Ditto Dxxxo, a user on Indonesia’s Darahkubiru denim forum. This pair has been Ditto’s daily jean and he’s worn them to work as well as cycling and the occasional game of street soccer. Time has taken its toll, however, both knees are blown out and the denim has probably ten percent of its original indigo left. Keep ’em up Ditto!
