Filson has a heritage that extends back to 1897 and have been producing heavy-duty, long-lasting wares ever since in Seattle, Washington. Using hard-wearing fabrics such as tin cloth and bridle leather, Filson’s goods reflect the life and style of the Pacific Northwest, having originally made clothes for gold miners and outdoorsmen.
Their latest endeavor, the Filson Restoration Department (FRD), makes use of worn vintage Filson bags to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces. Fabric and leather is taken from these vintage pieces and is repaired, reinforced, and sewn back together to be reincarnated into bags and pouches. What you’ll find with a FRD bag is a ton of character that’s only been achieved through years of use and weathering, each one with its own patina and story to tell. Each piece is expertly (re)crafted and brought back to life, made available in limited quantities.
They will be available for purchase through the Filson website starting on November 17th. But if you happen to be in Tokyo between October 31st and November 2nd, you can see these rarities before the online launch up close and in person at the Pop Up Flea.
