Fade Friday – Lee 101S (1 year, 1 rinse, 0 washes)

A little over a year ago, we covered the Lee Dry Denim Survival Weekend, where a handful Euro denimheads put the jeans to the test during two days in the wilderness. One of those select survivalists was Ruben Donker of Netherlands denim shop De Garage.

Ruben continued to wear his jeans hard for the next twelve months biking, longboarding, hiking, and fixing his house and garden. The jeans were rinsed once in a little river during the Dry Denim Weekend but have never touched water since.

The result is a shiny dirt patina, check the coin pocket. The crotch blew out several times but the resourceful Ruben fixed all the holes himself with a home sewing machine. He admits it’s not the finest craftsmanship but it’s kept his jeans alive. If you want a closer look, stop by De Garage where they’re about to take up permanent residence on display.
