Fade Friday – 3sixteen ST-120x (1 year, 1 soak, 0 washes)

Dark weft denim could not be more popular at the moment and its potential for high contrast fades is largely responsible. When you start off completely black, even the subtlest of fades jump out. Well you won’t have to look hard to see the evo on this week’s Fade Friday, a dark weft pair of 3sixteen ST-120x’s.

Despite the desk bound nature of student life, owner Sam McGee (known on the raw denim subreddit as working_on_it) was sure to put in hard wear biking, camping, and hiking in his jeans. This led to several blowouts and home repair jobs, but he held off patiently on soaking and washing them until crossing the one year mark, leading to the muted grey patina characteristic of 3sixteen’s sanforized denim.

Check out the pre and post-soak photos below.

‘Despite the desk bound nature of student life’ Not sure I agree with this statement! Hell of a lot more active than us office workers – and have a lot more free time.
Interestingly I bought a pair of these based on seeing a Fade Friday on a pair used in a 3sixteen competition and I love my pair. The fades I’ve got so far have clear white areas showing through on areas of high abrasion with a very vivid blue backdrop. I think this has occurred for the owner but all the photos are a bit dark!

I agree! i just got out of highschool and started working full time and i can tell you that i was way more active when i was at school. My job is mostly general labor so its rare to catch me wearing my “Nicer” denim post work on weekdays ( im usually sweating my ass off in jeans for 8 hours ).
