Meet the Scout 2.0

You may remember our raw denim search tool, the Scout, from when it debuted early last month. We received a lot of feedback on our new way for denimheads to find their ideal pair of jeans, and we’re happy to introduce the latest iteration of the best place to search for raw denim on the web.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the new features we’ve implemented:

Search by Measurement

Hands down, the most requested feature was the ability to search by specific measurements to find your ideal fit. With a little tinkering, we’ve come up with an algorithm that allows you to search by any or all of your preferred values for True Waist, Front Rise, Thigh, Knee, Leg Opening, and Inseam.

Similar Fits and Similar Details

Say you love the way your Unbranded 201 fits you, but you’d like to try a different jean. The Scout compares it with the measurements for every other model in the database to show you the three with the most Similar Fits. In the same vein, Similar Details shows you the jeans that have the most similar price, color, denim weight, etc.

Stretch and Shrinkage Meters

One of the most difficult parts about sizing a new pair of jeans is factoring in how much they are going to stretch and shrink after you wear and/or wash them. We’ve created meters to show you how many sizes you should expect your jeans to change so you can make a smarter sizing decision. As you can see, APC New Standards are very stretchy.

Brand Pages

One of the best parts about the raw denim scene is the incredible number of small brands producing great denim, one of the most time consuming parts is learning about all of them. Now, every brand on the Scout has its own dedicated page with links to every single raw denim jean they currently make, their logo, and a brief summary of the brand itself. Check out the brand page for 3sixteen below:

It’s been over three years since we started writing about raw denim here at Rawr, which means we’ve written about almost every single brand and jean in the Scout. We’ve done our best to link up all of our articles with their related models. So if you want to check out everything we’ve had to say about the Flat Head 3001for example, you just have to look to its page.
