ARN Mercantile “Gauntlet” Raw Denim Shirt

ARN Main Image

Organic may sometimes just be used as a buzzword, but to the folks over at ARN Mercantile, it’s a hardcore methodology. The brand, which is a collaboration between two designers – one Japanese fabric technician and one English pattern maker – only uses 100% organic fabrics and dyes. One of their products stemming from this design philosophy is the ARN Mercantile “Gauntlet” Raw Denim Shirt.

Made of raw 100% organic cotton denim, the Gauntlet features a chest pocket with a pen slot, and the brand’s own special “Gauntlet” sleeve construction. The fabric is organic fabric is unsanforized, so some shrinking is to be expected after the first wash. Unfortunately, the Gauntlet is currently sold out, but hopefully ARN Mercantile will ship out re-stocks soon. For now, check out the photos and details below.

Are their affordable options for raw denim shirting?

    • BillygoatsGruff312

      Not really.

so what exactly is this ‘gauntlet’ sleeve construction and how does it differ from normal sleeve construction?

that aside, i never expected to see unsanforized fabric to be used as a shirt, but the buttons are nice though

It APPEARS their may be a horizontal seam around the forearm area of the shirt. It is hard to tell from here.

    Hello

Thank you for posting about ARN, we’re a very small company and it nice of you to show the shirt.

The Gauntlet, is a shaping to the mid sleeve, we been making a ‘curved’ sleeve since we started, this is about the fit and comfort of the garment. We use an unsanforized organic cotton in most of our lower weights, the process can damage the fiber and does effect the organic dyes, for a very small reduction in shrinkage (1-3%) in this kind of fabric. The weave of the cloth is gravity tensioned not forced or weighted so it removed the need to hard wash the raw cottons.

    The buttons are reclaimed woods.

    Thank you again

    Neil (ARN)
