Rogue Territory x Snake Oil Provisions Washed Pure Indigo Work Shirt
We’ve talked a lot about California denim scene stalwart (and fast expanding menswear brand) Rogue Territory recently, and for good reason too. To close out their collaborations for 2013, they’ve teamed up with Snake Oil Provisions, a relatively new e-commerce start-up, to produce a washed pure indigo work shirt.
The shirt, which as the designers point out is “inspired by Long Beach and the original RGT work trouser,” is constructed out of a 10 Oz. Japanese indigo dyed canvas. While easily compared to Rogue Territory‘s other work shirts, the devil here is certainly in the details.
The canvas of choice has been dyed in a way that yields a similar end result to that of rope dyeing; an unpenetrated and thus un-dyed, core of the yarn. Due to the idiosyncratic nature of this dyeing process, after being subjected to what the designers describe as a “rinse wash”, no two shirts are alike.
The team at the Rogue Territory workshop pieced this fabric together using a bi-coloured chain stitch, navy as the top thread and brown for the bottom; a contrast that is noticeable on the chain stitch run-off. The work shirt is adorned with thick imitation horn buttons and the interior is screen-printed with co-branded artwork and care instructions. As well, a second screen-printed graphic is found in a secret, undisclosed location.
As was the case with their Need Supply jacket, a limited number were produced (30 to be exact), and the entire run is completely sold out. However, if December 2013 is any sort of indication of what we can expect from Rogue Territory in 2014, we’re sure this won’t be their last work shirt and co-produced creation.
