Pointer Brand American Original Blue Jeans (Lot 158R) – Review

It goes without saying that Pointer Brand has an incredibly rich history. Production still takes place in the original factory that L.C. King started the garment company in over 100 years ago, while ownership of the company has been passed down through four generations. Over this time, the offerings have stayed more or less the same.

Recently though, the truly workwear-inspired label has been venturing into new product offerings by giving their classic workwear offerings a modern twist without sacrificing the construction quality that has made the brand such a workwear staple.

Cone Mills White Oak Denim

For their latest release, they have returned to the denim that L.C King used when he started the company, Cone Mills White Oak Denim. We have talked extensively about Cone Mills’ famed White Oak Denim, and got the impression speaking with the folks at Pointer that they are incredibly excited to be reunited. The result of course are classic workwear garments that have made Pointer Brand such a staple.

These latest jeans from Pointer are an unwashed and raw offering cut from 13.75 Oz. Cone Mills White Oak, sanforized denim. The denim is ring-spun, indigo-dyed, right-hand twill. Other features include a two-tone hem that is finished on a Union Special 43200G chain stitch machine, as well as antique copper hardware and zipper fly.

In true workwear form, all seems are triple-stitched for added durability. Perhaps the best part of these jeans, though, is the price. All of these details and history are offered for the incredibly modest price of $73.00 USD.

Pointer Brand Silk Screened Pocket

Pointer Brand was kind enough to send me a pair of these new jeans, and after having my hands on them, I am incredibly impressed with the details they were able to incorporate into a $73.00 pair of jeans. They feel as solid as any pair of raw denim that I’ve had experience with, the raw Cone Mills Denim is always a treat to look at, and no detail is overlooked.

From the triple stitched seams and the chain stitched hem, to the Cone Mills label on the waistband, Pointer Brand hasn’t let anything slide. As for the fit, these jeans are much more practical workwear than high-fashion skinny jeans. They are cut full for good reason – this is actual workwear, designed to be lived in and worked in.

After speaking to their team, I can’t say enough about the level of enthusiasm they have for the products they make. As one would expect from a 100 year old label, they craft quality goods full of integrity and each employee fully believes in what they are doing; something that comes through in every correspondence I’ve had with them. Check out the image of these below, and be sure to also view out some of Pointer’s other classic workwear options on their website.
