OrSlow 1950’s Coverall Jacket – Just Released

Classic denim designs like the ubiquitous denim jacket are popular for a reason as their comfort, versatility, and lasting aesthetic proves that indigo works well and looks good everywhere and anywhere. Old standards like a denim jacket and a pair of Levi’s 501‘s get enough attention, so the 1950’s Coverall Jacket from the Japanese brand OrSlow is a nice change of pace.

This coverall is based on the workwear jackets that US Army soldiers wore in the 1950’s while fixing their Willys (the origin of the now-iconic Jeep). Brand owner Ichiro Nakatsu began his appreciation for these kind of heritage garments 35 years ago as a child, when he fell in love with a pair of overalls given to him by his mother. After sewing jeans with other brands for a period of time, Nakatsu started OrSlow in 2005 as he grew tired of searching for the perfect workwear garment.

The brand’s name comes from his idea that clothes should be designed slowly, with a focus on longevity. Nakatsu’s obsession with clothes is clear. In his own words, “I have nothing to do if you take making clothes away from me”.

Details, like in most heritage items, are important to Nakatsu. This jacket features once-washed denim, triple stitched seams, a button-down collar, four rounded front pockets, OrSlow copper buttons, and a classic regular fit. It’s available now at Oi Polloi for £265.00 (approximately $425.18 USD).
