When it comes to denim these days, there is a common image of a burly bearded man wearing workboots, a heavy flannel shirt and worn-in denim. This has become an image that is prevalent in many lookbooks, ads, and product pictures to the point of near saturation. While these images of the rugged man have a strong history behind it, many of us know that denim has, for a long time now, gone beyond being classified as just strictly “workwear” and instead has become almost universal across styles, regions, and cultures.
In an effort to highlight the universality of denim and use different shades of indigo to tell the story behind the wearer’s style, Simon Tuntelder, the owner and founder of After The Denim, has partnered together with several talented photographers to create a non-commercial photoshoot, entitled “INDIGO.” The shoot features the combined stylings of many vintage and modern pieces brought together to create a collection of ten visually striking photos. Without further ado, we’ll let the pictures do the talking (as well include a breakdown of the garments in each picture).
