Naked & Famous Rainbow Core – Close-Up Look

Naked & Famous Rainbow Core - Close-Up Look

As it seemed to grab headlines when we announced the selection of denim being made available by Naked and Famous in their Spring/Summer 2013 lineup, this post is dedicated into getting a little more in detail with the Rainbow Core 14 Oz. selvedge jean. Available in the WeirdGuy fit, this jean is much like the Red Core in that it fades to a different color rather than the typical blue/white fades, only where the Red Core went to red, the Rainbow fades to exactly that. To get a proper idea of what the jean will look like, we’ve gotten in touch with founder Brandon Svarc who sent us a few pictures of the denim post-fade.

While your own fades with this jean will all be a little different, this should give a good overview of what the Rainbow core really looks like, and just might motivate you to push on and get working on a pair of your own. They’re available only at Barney’s for the time being, but we’re sure that over time they’ll become widely available.

I think Devan will get a pair of this just because of the fit picture…. rather than the fade-to-rainbow-color thingy

i indeed like the fact that here is a picture of a fit. finally! naked and famous know their stuff! and i was thinking of getting these. its very interesting.. i wonder what would happen if you washed them. anyway great article because these jeans were kind of confusing. and as always i appreciate a picture of fit.

    • jjjjjjj

if you wash them a leperchaun will pop out of them and punch you in the face.

  • Gray

Wow these are the grosses pair of jeans besides the fancy back pocket denim.

  • William Harris

Corny. Reminds me of those kids shoes that light up when they walk

I love my “Dirty Fades” but I never saw the appeal of the “Red Core” jeans and I definitely don’t see the appeal of these. I like that N&F plays around with unconventianal ideas but these are just to wacky for me. Why would you want a pair of raws that look so unnatural?

    corny juss like red-cores

Already working on fading my pair…

    • TIM DOG

you probably are, “kicks and shit”. please, dont update.

    • DenimFreaque

Better yet, do update just to piss off the haters. I know I’d like to see how they turn out.

    • dsqdevtst

      Updates?

  • Ryan

Remember everyone, they’re probably not making these “for you” Yeah, they seem wacky but I can see a lot of people buying these. Maybe not denimheads, but N&F is trying to appeal to all types of people, not just a tiny sub group.

    • TIM DOG

who are they making them for? 13 yr olds at the mall. way to not appeal to “sub groups”. sorry, but this shit sucks.

i get that you guys, and conner, probably have a special bond with the canadian denim manufactuers naked and famous. but in all honesty, do you feel like any of their shit really warrants an up close and personal look at any one seperate jean from their new seasonal shit, which seems to come out every couple of months?
i love rawr denim. i love every article. even if its some wack bs new company or an evisu update. i still prefer to be informed. but anything further than a naked and famous lot post of the new season shit hasnt really earned a slot here, imo.
for one, nobody really knows about the manufacturing process or the denim that these guys use, which is really a lot of the shit i look for in articles here. “rare and raw” really doesnt seem to cut it for me, when describing new jeans in a write-up.
i get that i might be barking up the wrong tree here. but i seriously expect a little bit more from the site. i dont see you guys going into detail about every other “streetwear” brand thats hopped the bandwagon, aside from, “theyre out now, go cop them if youre cheap”.
plus, theres tons of blogs, like karmaloop or some dumb shit where people can stay informed about this stuff. theres probably been maybe 10 new releases that are worth a write-up that have come up since you wrote about “rainbow selvedge”.

J – Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate & will take note of it. If there are any brands/models that you’d like to see more of – such as the 10 new releases you mention – please let us know. Our email is: info@rawrdenim.com

you guys are already on it. thanks. sorry, i love the site. and can bite my tounge with an occasional n&f article. but too much of the brand drives me nuts. i understand that because of the affordability, so many young kids are into this sort of stuff. but i just dont feel that it warrants any props at all.

    • Model Citizen

I think this article is warranted just because “rainbow” tinted raw denim is such a weird concept that a lot of people were probably pretty curious about it when these were announced, albeit in a wtf sort of way. I don’t think it necessarily has anything to do with the brand.

pushing the envelope again and the haters keep hating.
    business as usual.

I think its a cool idea. Something different. If they were <$100, I might grab a pair.
