Momotaro x Tate + Yoko MOTY01 Collaboration

In late January/early February, Momotaro and Tate + Yoko will be releasing their first collaborative denim offering. Modelled in the weird guy style made famous by Naked and Famous, this is a jean to watch out for.

Tate + Yoko is known for their collaborations, having done some excellent work in the past with The Flat Head and Naked and Famous + The Flat Head, so if history is any indicator the 75 people who will be able to get their hands on a pair will be in for a real treat.

Weird guy is overplayed. Other than that, karma sutra and tonal stitching are nice, but this doesn’t strike me like other momo collabs.

Well for those of us whom the Weird Guy fit fits us really well, I’d have to disagree. We’re not all 28″ waists with scrawny thighs.

Weird that they’re avoiding the N&F name, considering T&Y is owned by the same person who owns N&F and they’re using their fit.

These were produced instead of the FHxTYxNF collab that was supposed to come out in mid Dec. No word of why the original jean didn’t happen, they just told everyone that preordered em that it would be replaced it with these jeans in mid Jan.

Too bad these are limited to 75 pairs, If I thought I had a legitmate shot at scoring a pair I’d drop some tax return money on these

hmm not a fan of the patch, i love the kamasutra print. ok collaboration. i dont understand why its tate and yoko instead of n&f.

I pre-ordered the Flat Head collabo – which didn’t happen – and was offered these instead, which I declined, as they sounded a little ‘cheesy’. Seeing them in the flesh, they look quite nice (the stitching’s a nice touch) but I’m of much the same mind. Kama Sutra pocket bags? erm, no thanks. I like what Naked and Famous do but I’m definitely of the ‘less is more’ persuasion.

Maybe they’re being marketed as purely a T+Y collaboration as if it was N+F it would actually be the 3rd version of a jean they’ve done together? It does feel a bit disingenuous, anyway.

I’ve also ordered the flat head version which got canceled out of nowhere. It was really frustrating bc I was waiting for those to be shipped for over a month.
Then these guys told me via email that it got canceled and will be replaced with these, the momo colab, which I agreed to replace my order to.
But there were no updates from Tate and Yoko for a long time and a around December to early Jan., their site didn’t work properly either, which led me to cancel my order all together.
And I can’t believe that they’re announcing how the jeans look like just now, when they claimed they would finish shipping by Mid Jan.
Yo, I love unbranded and Naked and famous, and appreciate their wide range of products, but man, this was one hell of a sloppy deal
