EVISU Gold Edition Denim – Lunar Year of the Snake

EVISU Gold Edition Denim - Lunar Year of the Snake

The Year of the Snake Celebration Jean from EVISU

EVISU, in celebration of the arrival of the Year of the Snake, have created its own styled take on the Snake tribute piece by creating a jean with conflicting traditional and modern design details. This is a unique one-off piece containing several firsts from EVISU to ensure that this is a jean that will never be replicated or matched. Similar to their 2012 Year of the Dragon denim, this is a true one-time celebration piece.

Snakeskin Pattern Detailing

Snakeskin Pattern Detailing

The design team at EVISU was clearly charged with drawing off the brand’s rich heritage and premium quality indigo selvedge denim while bringing in the snakeskin pattern as a core theme. The team started with the ‘Daicock’ design, working in the snakeskin pattern they created printed onto leather to give the pattern a sense of depth and realism. This printed leather is skillfully sewn to the back of the jean to allow for the natural curve and fit of the jeans.

Red Stitching

The designers also highlight the brand’s traditional use of the color red, bringing in a striking red stitching as a nod not just to their own heritage, but also to the rich significance of red in Chinese culture.

The celebration and prosperity that red stands for has always been a central theme in Chinese New Year celebrations. EVISU also have used a great deal of gold elements to add to the theme of celebration within these jeans.

Gold Rivets, Button Fly and Leather Patch

Particularly, the button fly has been done in gold and is visible even when being worn, the golden rivets are created specially for these jeans with EVISU etched into the surfaces of each and the leather patch is golden with a unique stamp number to give the denim further personality.

The contrast between the red and gold elements and the traditional indigo make these jeans as much an art piece as a functional clothing piece.

Haha it’s a nice box, with the added benefit that no one has to look at them.

Hideous and that fly with the exposed buttons Is something I would expect on women’s jeans.

maybe they should stick to making nice boxes.

  • Alex DeLarge

Not my cup of tea, but i kinda like the exposed fly ?!

It looks like someone sat on and laid his back on a snake and killed it.

These look terrible. why use 27L buttons on fly?… sign of a non denim designer – making denim – shame..

  • bryan solid

Well, obviously these are going to appeal only to a very narrow demographic simply because they are so godawful. Take away the garish snake pattern on the back and cover the bly buttons and you’ve got a nice pair of denim.

  • norbert

in asia is trend for women to show buttons in fly, the back with snake i do not like too. i am producer of custom selvedge and let deside customers what he design he likes or not likes.
