Some say that a samurai’s most valuable possession is his sword. For Samurai Jeans Co., this sword just happens to come in the form of their S710XX jeans. Hailing from the mecca of awesome raw denim that is Japan, the S710XX (commonly known as 710′s) is an exceptional pair of jeans. Not only are they constructed with a unique method but they also come in a fantastic  fit.

Worn and contributed by superdenim member werd, these jeans have only been put to work for 5 months but have nonetheless seen their fair share of action. The fade on these jeans is coming along ridiculously well for such a short period of time.

The whiskering is nearly perfect, the honeycombs are deep and defined, and the knee and seat areas show some great atari. It leaves one to wonder, just how hard do you really wear your jeans? Seriously, though, this guy’s got a crotch blowout on his jeans in only 5 months!

As for the jeans themselves, the Samurai S710XX  jeans are constructed from 19oz. raw selvedge denim that is woven with an irregular 5th thread approach. The white core yarn is dyed with a pure indigo color to help it really pop and give them an interesting texture.

Levi’s influenced arcs & pocket tab (on the Japanese models), and leather patch along with the selvedge ID make these jeans pretty memorable. After taking a look at the way that these jeans broke in, it comes as no surprise that they would happen to be Samurai’s most popular model (outside Japan, that is).

Nice looking pair. I especially like the combs and overall color after the wash. Interestingly, pretty much nobody in Japan seems to wear these – they’re probably Samurai’s least popular model within Japan.

It’s kind of a shame that Japanese denim fans are so obsessed with a vintage-style fit, because the 710 cut is probably one of the best offered by any jeans brand. Hopefully my one-month old pair will be looking this good after a winter of shoveling snow in Japan’s frozen northern reaches.

I’m in agreement that these fades are awesome but, for God’s sake, can people chill out with the “contrast” and “saturation” adjustments in Photoshop?!?!

So in another five months these will be shot and he’ll be on to a new pair? Expensive habit!

Personally, I prefer the slow break in over many years. I think it ultimately results in a nicer looking fade and a more “genuine” feel to the denim. Despite the fades on these 710s, which are, you know, pretty contrasty, the jeans themselves still look like jeans that are only 5 months old, rather than a trusty pair of pants that has been worn in for years and years, which is, and let’s be honest here, what the whole denim fading phenomenon is trying to replicate, is it not?

I’m not sure about a pair of jeans that look like they’re a couple of years old after just 5 months either. I suppose the lad might be grafting really hard and giving them a really hard life, spending all day breaking rocks in a quarry or something… Somehow I doubt it.

5 months of natural fading with 3 washes and such well defined combs? my big fat ass!!!!

    • yesweken

@fuente87:disqus I would also like to know if these jeans had an initial soak before wearing. I’ve got the same jeans and I’m doubting wether to soak them or not before wearing them…
