Pure Blue Japan has been well-represented lately for Fade Fridays, and for good reason.  Many of PBJ’s jeans are constructed from denim woven on a manipulated single-shuttle loom that creates a slubby, uneven texture that fades beautifully.

This week’s featured jeans are a pair of Pure Blue Japan XX005S, worn almost daily for the past 13 months by @kylelengling, a student at the University of Minnesota. Kyle cycled in his jeans to break them in, and there is extensive wear and tear on the back pockets thanks to his saddle as well as dramatic honeycombing behind the knees from pedaling.

In total, the jeans have been washed three times after their initial soak, with the first wash happening around the 6 month mark.

These are some great-looking jeans, but his photos aren’t very good. PBJ denim pretty much never disappoints, though you don’t see as many nicely-faded pairs of this denim as 007s and 011s.

@ Jobu-foo. This is a very narrow subject. Jeans. What can jeans do to please you, fade. They offer interesting variations on a simple theme. Maybe you desire a different product that has a deeper discourse. Why not try a poetry forum?

hi, i am very green when it comes to selvedge denim and proper fading of them, being in South Africa, people dont really understand the culture of denim and it is very hard and very expensive to find good denim down here!

what i have come to realize is that very few of these faded denim have cell phone fades by the front pockets. so basically my question is: where do you keep you cell phone in order to prevent this?

i have a pair of NFxMomotaro and have worn them for 18 months with one soak. they have faded amazingly but i have that rectangle on my front right pocket which ruins the look, any advise is greatly appreciated!

I know someone who keeps it in his back pocket but when he sits down, he takes it out. or you can just get one of those phone holders you strap on your belt. personally i think its a hassel to take the phone out everytime you sit, and i’m not too into a phone holder. I just let leave them on my front pocket. I’ve got both a cellphone and an ipod touch so i have 2 front pocket fades
