Top French denim retailers A.P.C.  have recently released the perfect option for those who were turned off by the roominess of the New Standard but couldn’t quite get their legs into the very slim Petit Standard. A rousing welcome to the aptly named Petit New Standard. Cut in a tapered leg, slim fitting jean, fitting pretty much perfectly between the Petit and New Standard options.

The denim is still the same 100% cotton raw denim we’ve come to expect from A.P.C., branding is kept to a minimum and they sport a of the button variety. All this to say that the jeans are still some of the best value for money as far as premium raw denim goes.

  • Fit: Perfectly between the skinny Petit Standard and the roomier New Standard

Ideologically, didn’t this already exist, and wasn’t it called the “New Cure”?

    • tobysowen

New Cure is the slimmest of APC cuts, followed by petite standard, petite new standard, new standard and then rescue as the widest cut.

      • jon

I never understood how NC were slimmer than PS when measurements show otherwise. PS even has a smaller hem.

i thought the blue APCs were not sanforized, only the black. i’m confused.

    • Vinyl Scratch

All APC’s are sanforized. The indigo jeans are still raw, but will experience minimal shrinkage when you wash them for the first time.

  • Whitekey

Since when did APC move to 12oz jeans? Thought they were always 14oz?

The blog post’s title is wrong… Somehow the permalink isn’t, though.
Fit pics would be nice, though.

Thanks for the catch! Slight misstep on our end with the model name. APC’s product description – http://uscheckout.apc.fr/browse.cfm/4,1678.html?nav=denim

So that’s confusing. It’s a new fit with an old name? You’re saying the new Petit Standard comes between Petit Standard (the old one?) and the New Standard

      • bill

I’m confused as well. have they simply revised the fit of the Petit Standard? Or is this saying they have two different cuts with the exact same name? Seems unlikely

        • Connor

They will be continuing the Petit Standard as well, the Petit New Standard is a slightly roomier jean than the Petit Standard.

  • asdf

uhh is it just me or does the article keep mentioning petit new standard as petit standard?

  • fire2368

hasnt this always existed? i owned petit standards 3 years ago

  • MK

is this brand new jeans slim-straight fit???

  • Gords

The correct model name is ‘petit new standard.’

I just got this pair 2 weeks ago. Although it is less skinny than the new cure, this petit new standard fit is much more tapered; it have a smaller leg opening (6 inches compared to the new cure 7 inches) and roomier thigh.

Hi guys. Do you know of any places in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where I can get A.P.C Denim?

    • harjoth

Cant get them in KL bro. I just got myself a pair last weekend in SG. Even at that, it costed about 290SGD. I think i’d be cheaper if you get from a US site, providing the shipping doesnt kill. Anything in KL will be RM450 more.

I know the petite standards stretch so they recommend sizing down a size sometimes even two sizes. Is this true for the petite new standards?
