Rogue Territory RK Denim 2012 Spring/Summer – Just Released

Rogue Territory RK Denim - Just In Time For Summer

Rogue Territory RK Denim - Just In Time For Summer

After much anticipation, Rogue Territory has released their Spring/Summer 2012 RK Denim - a slim, lightweight raw denim that is as well constructed and designed as it is well-timed. That’s right, if you are in need of a denim suitable for the hot summer months ahead, this model is a nice solution.

You may have recalled that around this time last year, Rogue Territory produced a very similar, collaborative piece. Bearing the same name (after the initials of the founder’s first names - Ryan Plett and Karl Thoennessen), 2011′s was slightly lighter in weight (6 Oz.), but stayed true to its vintage details; such as the selvedge detailing and hidden pen pocket.

This time around, however, three versions are offered up – the RK Natural, RK Dark Indigo, and RK Grey Caste (same model and denim as last year). All weigh in at 10 Oz. and interestingly feature a split-cut selvedge (i.e. front panel has the selvedge, back panel is lock-stitched). If you’re planning to pick up a pair, hop over to their online shop.

Weird pockets. Look good but I would be worried about pocket flare.

Definitely more like the pockets on dress pants than the usual for jeans.  Might be able to get away with wearing these in a bit fancier of a setting.

any thoughts on why the jeans have one selvedge & one surged edge? is that to make the taper more drastic?

    • Derek

Straight from the description on the website:

“The selvedge is present on the front panel and back the panel shows an
overlock stitch. This was done because the denim used for these pants
is 47″ wide instead of 30″ wide which is a standard width for selvage
goods with weight and construction used for jeans. By doing a ‘split
cut’ (this is my term for it) you limit the amount of waste per jean.”

A pen pocket in a pair of white pants? That’s just begging for a big blue stain.
