Fade Friday - Allevol Slim 002 (1 Year, 1 Soak, 1 Wash)

Similar to last week, this week’s Fade Friday shines the spotlight on a label that we’ve yet to bring attention to. Founded in 2005, Allevol began as merely a project when husband and wife, Taka and Anna Okabe, felt the simple need to create something special.

The duo had already settled in London, UK for five years; and knew whatever they would create would be a result of three factors – their passion for American vintage clothing, strong interest in European culture, and ability to source Japanese materials. Most importantly, however, their garments would have to possess an “evolutionary” element.

Thus, it only made sense for their first garment to be a pair of denim jeans, bearing the name AllevolA combination of “All” & “Evolve”, Allevol strives to produce comfortable, durable everyday garments that will age as well they will hold up.

We’ll get into more detail in a future article – getting to the goods…

What’s with the holes front and back just above the hems? I’d say that they look like wear spots from being cuffed, but it doesn’t look these jeans are worn that way. Nor does it look like they’re too long and all bunch up around the ankle. Weird.

    Hi Bryan,

The holes at the front and the back above the hems are from the turn up (or rolling up). It’s been worn for a while being turn up, thus the colour fade and holes.  The jeans was worn by vintage Vespa/Lambretta lover. It may be something to do with it here (although not 100% sure). The front looks great though, very natural and still having nice colour contrast (this is surely because of driving scooters :)

    Hi Grim,

Thank you for your compliments. Very difficult to answer that question, what the fit is like.
I would probably say, (not because of your name!), Grim Tim (Nudie jeans-wise) and New Standard (APC-wise: although the york is slightly/very fraction smaller).  The actual inspiration was coming from the UK’s 60/70s punk/mods scene. I loved the way they dressed (I’m sure some hate!)…  Like, bikers leather jackets from Lewis Leathers, Highwayman, Mascot, TT, check/tartan colourd shirts, suspender, and nice blue slim jeans. They were wearing Levi’ 505 mostly. Thus I could probably say that the fit may be like 6o-70s Levi’s 505…

    Thanks.

Hmm. I only comment because when I have my jeans cuffed (or turned/rolled up) there’s a very definite crease that can be seen, even when unrolled and these jeans don’t really appear to have that. I suppose it could just be due to the lighting or photos. I kind of figured that the little holes were from cuffs, but you never know…

Hi Bryan, I just checked the jeans (it’s 12am in London UK!) and the jeans is rolled twice, outside (one roll is 2cm from the hem and the second roll is bit more than 2cm). There are holes as seen and indeed it’s a bit strange to have the front holes…

     Hi Suss,
I agree with you! I am actually gonna try the soak and wash after 6months to see how the colour fades… It seems that our denim will have better colour fade when it’s soaked in the beginning…

These Jeans look awesome. I’ve never heard of the brand before, but I like what I see here so far.
I definitely would like to try these.

    • Taka

Hi Anteezy, thank you for your compliment (although I wasn’t the one wearing the pair…). Hope you can consider our jeans next time!

Is it possible that they were cuffed inside instead of out?

    • Taka

Hi Joe, as far as I am aware, it was cuffed outside. My pair (which is also cuffed outside a couple of times) also has quite creased look (not yet hole).
