As you might have picked up from some of our past Fade Fridays, we’re always try to mix it up and not just focus on the more unanimous. Thus, we’re excited and grateful to present yet another beautifully faded pair of Levi’s 501XX from Arie van den Berg of Rotterdam, Netherlands (feel free to check out his first featured pair of Levi’s 501XX).
The story behind these Levi’s is that prior to Arie purchasing them online (for 10 euros), they were owned a vintage market shop owner in Hong Kong since 1993. They were so worn-in that the crotch was already repaired, and the honeycombs and whiskers had heavily set in.
After acquiring them in May 2011, however, Arie took it upon himself to fix up smaller holes in the seat and legs, then kick off his own mini project in December 2011. He handed them off to a local painter, Tymon Ferenc de Laat, who wore them for three weeks while painting; eventually evolving these Levi’s into a very unique and personal piece.
