Flat Head x Naked & Famous x Tate + Yoko Jean – Just Released

The Flat Head x Naked & Famous denim x Tate + Yoko custom leather patch.

Following up with more news on The Flat Head since on our Fade Friday post about the Flat Head’s 6002W jacket, we’re excited to announce Naked & Famous’  latest collaboration jean with another legendary Japanese denim brand, The Flat Head. You can see some of Naked and Famous’ past collaborations have been with Blue in Green, Loveless, Momotaro, Big John, Tenue De Nîmes and Oni.

Brief history of the brand (Source: Aero Leather Clothing)

The Flat Head was established in 1996 by Masayoshi Kobayashi. Kobayashi took vintage denim from the 1920’s through to the 1960’s and deconstructed it to analyze the precise dyeing and stitching techniques. He then set out to produce classic styled clothing made in the same manner as the original garments. As part of this process, he uses only specially selected high quality material and employs highly skilled Japanese craftsmen.

The Flat Head‘s selvedge denim is woven on old-style shuttle looms that can make only 50 meters of denim per day, however approximately 3 meters of fabric is required to make each pair of jeans, this is a labour of love.

Kobayashi-san says that “At the time of purchase the product is only half complete, it is only fully complete once the garment has melded itself to the unique shape of the individual.”

You’ll have to stick your nose to the screen to see these tone on tone (or hidden) arcs. Naked and Famous typical has a clean back pocket, but Flat Head always has arcs, so this is the best compromise between the two. As the jeans fade in the back, you’ll see the arcs come through.

Pink selvedge.

Yeah, I just bought a pair of these, and I know my wallet hates me :(  I have just begun getting into denim though, and these looked like a great addition to add to what I hope to be a slowly growing collection.

@b93935867a2dfb2794c21f15d6694c2e:disqus Awesome! How did they fit and feel so far?

      • Dustin Holtz

I won’t actually get them for another week and a half at least, but I’ll let you know when I get them.  I would get them next week, but opting for chain-stitching delays the order by a few more days.

I guess just as an update:  I got just did my pre-soak and I’m working them in now, but they feel pretty nice.  I think they will turn out to be a pretty nice pair of denim.  I’m not really use to the stiffness since I’m still a little new, and my Nudie’s feel so great, but I think these will turn out to feel nice after a little time.  They fit fine though.

Awesome stuff! And don’t worry, Flathead 3XXX denim gets super soft after a couple months. You’re in for a good time with those jeans.

    wearing mine now !
soooo stiff. Maybe not as much as the Naked and Famous x Oni collab but I’ve noticed it takes creases easier.

Such a nice, I wish mine didn’t shrivel up after the soak.

Loving these jeans though! They seem to be fading rather quickly and the creases set in really fast.

i have not really seen a pair of naked and famous jeans that i like but i am definitely into these. these contain no real “gimmick” except maybe the hidden arcs but i personally think that it is a really cool idea.
