5 Pairs Of Black Raw Denim (Part 1 of 2)

5 Pairs of Black Raw Denim - Part 1

The standard image of jeans is good ol’ indigo-dyed, 5-pocket jeans. But not all jeans are standard “blue jeans” (e.g. Naked & FamousPomegranate-dyed jeans). In today’s post, we’d like to shed a bit of light into the rather dark world of black raw denim.

Known for fading differently from traditional indigo jeans due to the difference in dye, there’s been increased interest in black jeans lately. In no particular order, we present 5 awesome pairs of black raw jeans.

i’d really like to see some pictures of black denim fading…thinking about getting a pair.

I believe it changes from denim to denim depends of the dyeing process.
      1. 3Sixteen+ – 711BSP from the dye description it looks like it’s all sulfur, this would only  fade into gray.If in the process the first dips were in indigo (and prolonged enough) even a sulfur top would fade in light blue. However i feel to say, to me a sulfur-only dye (no indigo at all) does only share the process with what i define denim, in spite I do love the look of it.

Good insight. Some of them are dyed in indigo first. It just achieves a different effect.

Stay tuned for our upcoming post on Overdyed denim, as well.

How about a month of Fade Friday in black! That way we get a cross section of jean to compare with.

Good eye. However, those are overdyed. I’m cooking up a special post just for overdyed jeans. Just y’all wait & see…

Working on a pair of black Naked & Famous myself. I have four different jeans in rotation, so no mad fades yet, but I can definitely see where they’re starting to work in and I think the end product (not that there’s ever an end) will look really good. I’ve started using my N&F’s to bike messenger in to speed up the process. Solid jeans.

      do they fade?

Not as well as Indigo jeans.

The Flat Head has a zipper instead of button fly (which was a disappointment).  Good fit, but nowhere close to the PBJ’s or Samurai.
