The Flat Head's K011 Model

I know it hasn’t been long since we last posted about The Flat Head & Co. but we just can’t help ourselves!

Lately there has been a major increase in jeans made from different materials, thanks largely in part to fellow Canadian manufacturer Naked & Famous (e.g. glow-in-the-dark denim, flannel jeans, etc). However, they are not the only ones producing jeans with denim made from materials other than cotton. For instance, The Flat Head’s K011 model.

Part of Flat Head’s “Exceed” series, the K011 jeans are special because they employ a blend of cotton mixed with kevlar fibers. Yes, Naked & Famous did a similar limited edition run of Cotton/Kevlar blend, but Flat Head did it first.

According to the Flat Head’s website, by weaving the kevlar and cotton fibers together, they have created a material that has 8.5 times more tensile strength than regular cotton denim, while only weighing 13.5oz per square yard.

The K011 model is cut in the popular 3001 (slim-straight) silhouette, and features a zipper fly, heavy-weight silk-screened pocket bags as well as lined back pockets. A special leather patch showcasing a vintage car and motorcycle motif is displayed on the waistband.

Sadly, these awesome jeans are not currently being sold by any shops in North America, so you’ll have to hire a proxy service or, better yet, go to Ueno and get ‘em there!

I wonder when they’re gonna make fireproof jeans. It’ll be bloody awesome.
