For this week’s Fade Friday, we’ve chosen to re-cap an incredible denim fade competition that ran in 2007. Although this took place some time back, the scale that this idea operated at and amazing resulting fades warrants as much attention as a single post can provide.
The contest rules and implementation were very simple. Japanese denim manufacturer, Warehouse, NYC-based denim shop, Blue In Green, and Denim forum, SuperFuture (specifically one of their members, “Cheep”) teamed together to issue specially marked pairs of Warehouse Dubbleworks 660 to 215 participants across 20 countries. Each participant was given exactly one year to achieve as “ideal” (for lack of a better word; we’re not sure what the criteria was) of a fade and wear as possible. The results were judged by Gordan Heffner, of Blue In Green, and a rep from Warehouse.
