Sticky Situation – How To Remove Chewing Gum From Denim

Regardless of how it goes down, the general reaction is the same – fuck!  As far as raw denim goes, getting chewing gum stuck on your denim is seemingly one of the most annoying issues one can deal with.  But fear not.  The solution to removing chewing gum from your threads is just as simple, quick, and easy as getting the culprit worked in there in the first place.

From nail remover solution to keyboard duster spray, people swear by a variety of  mechanisms to battle chewing gum.  However, to best protect your denim, we recommend you follow these lines of defense in this exact order (if the preceding method fails).

Method One – Ice Cubesticky-situation-how-to-remove-chewing-gum-from-denim-icePick off as much gum as you possibly can

  1. Wrap ice cube in cloth towel
  2. Rub affected area (frozen gum residue will fall off)
  3. If still some gum stuck, use toothpick or butter knife to pick off

Method Two – Freezer (if Method One does not work)

Follow steps for Cleaning Via Freezing (this will deep freeze the gum and be even easier to remove)

  1. If still some gum stuck, use toothpick or butter knife to pick off

Method Three – Vinegar (if Method One & Two do not work)

  1. Soak corner of cloth towel in vinegar
  2. Rub affected area (note: do not rub too laboriously as it will lead to some bleeding)
