Founded just 14 years ago in 1997, and based in Osaka, Japan, Samurai Jeans are known for their exclusivity (at least in North America), heavy dyes (they released a 24 oz. denim this year), and – as a result – stunning fades. Just two days ago on April 4, 2011, they gave word via their company blog that they’ve released a new limited edition model, including a letter of authenticity, special bag and case.

- Hank Dyed with Natural Indigo (using 24 dyeing repetitions)
- 100% Organic Cotton – i.e. grown for a span of 3 years on farms without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, a rarity among traditional cotton growing techniques. There are strict criteria that must be followed to be certified as organic cotton free of fertilizers and pesticides.
- Special heavy ounce denim, shuttle loom woven with thick and uneven #5 yarns gives a rugged appeal which exudes the elegance of organic cotton for a finalized luxury denim.
- Vermilion color selvage line threads dyed with Bengala (弁柄), also known as “Red Iron Oxide”
- Gold-plated Steel tack buttons
- Original logo copper rivets
- Selvage fabric at underside of fly front

- Flasher has image of 15th century ruler Takeda Shingen, alongside him kanji reading “風林火山”, literally “Wind, Forest, Fire and Mountain”. This was a battle strategy and motto used by Takeda Shingen (taken from Sun Tzu’s The Art of War)which translates “Swift as wind, quiet as a forest, fierce as fire, and immovable as a mountain”.
